ESCOLA CONCERTADA per la Generalitat de Catalunya
A group of 4th ESO students from the school had the opportunity to embark on an exciting visit to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center - National Supercomputing Center. Accompanied by their programming teacher, they were able to firsthand experience one of the most technologically advanced facilities in the world.
During the visit, the students explored the facilities and the Mare Nostrum 4 supercomputer, which is currently installed. They learned about the practical applications of supercomputing in various fields, such as scientific research, data analysis, and simulation of complex processes. The researchers at the Center explained to us the growth projects they are currently developing, such as the new Mare Nostrum 5 and the experiments for the country's first quantum computers.
Furthermore, they had the opportunity to interact with experts in the field of programming and engage in practical activities that allowed them to experience the creation and execution of computer programs firsthand.
This visit to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center provided the students with a broader and enriching perspective on the importance of programming and high-performance computing in the modern world. It inspired them to continue exploring and developing their skills in the field of technology.
