How to Talk About Affective Education and Sexuality with Adolescents: A Necessary Task in Educational Centers

29/05/2024

For some years now, Xaloc has had the help of the Institute for Development and Person, which has developed comprehensive courses to discuss a reality intrinsic to human beings: affective relationships between human beings

Sometimes it is not easy to address topics about human sexuality; however, in a society dominated by hypersexualization, it is important to take a step forward and talk about it with your children. The school, of course, always goes hand in hand with the needs of families, and that is why for some years we have had the tremendous professionals of the Learn to Love programs.

These workshops, created by the Institute for Development and Person —a foundation linked to the Francisco de Vitoria University—, have the mission of showing the greatness of love and human sexuality. They are leading trainers in the affective-sexual field, and they aim to turn around certain postmodern theories about sexuality.

The first thing they delve into is the term itself: what is sexuality? It is the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual condition that defines and at the same time differentiates men from women. We love through our sexuality, and not just through sex. But it is important that pre-adolescents and adolescents have support as they discover their sexuality.

At Xaloc, we encourage spaces for dialogue, and from the 5th grade we promote these affective-sexual sessions, where the professionals of Learn to Love answer students' questions and always speak in a positive key: as they themselves state, "to love is a good and it is the engine of life; we are well-made, but we have to do things right."

Families appreciate this source of information, always verified, based on directing sexuality towards the purpose of the human being, which is to love and give life.

Special thanks to all the teachers who have passed through the classrooms, from the 5th grade to the 1st year of high school, throughout this school year.

See you next year!
