On May 3rd, the 2nd-year Bachillerato students participated in the Academic Ceremony of Granting Scholarships, marking the opening of the doors to what is now their home, Xaloc, but this time as Alumni
The Ágora II Promotion is gearing up for the final step before leaving Xaloc's classrooms: final exams, preparation for the university entrance exams (PAU), grade improvements, some subject reviews, etc. Amidst all this, on Friday, May 3rd, we took a break and celebrated the Ceremony of Granting Scholarships.
It began with an emotional Thanksgiving Mass in the school's Oratory, accompanied by their teachers and families. After this, the students made their way to the sports hall where they've played sports or performed theater countless times, attended the Christmas Play, etc. But this time it was different: they were attending their Scholarships, the last major event at Xaloc.
Mr. Francesc Oliveras hosted the ceremony, where they received the significant distinction of being school alumni. It was a privilege to have all the attendees, but we especially want to mention those who were part of the panel, who lovingly awarded the scholarship to their children and their classmates: Esther Rabassa, mother of Pol; Mónica Victoria, mother of Alex; María Pulido, mother of Marc; Alejandro Calleja, father of Álvaro; and Francisco Javier Iruregoyena, father of Javier.
Representing the mothers and fathers of all the students, Maria Mercè Rosinach Ribera, mother of Marc, spoke gratefully to the entire Xaloc community and presented a commemorative plaque and a bouquet of flowers to Our Lady, which are in the hermitage.
It has been the largest promotion in recent years, and Julen Junco was tasked with speaking to his peers. After recalling each of the teachers who have been in their classrooms this past year and giving general thanks to their Avantis, Primary, and Secondary teachers, he delivered a message that defines his promotion, the unity among them: "This is something I will always take from Xaloc and my classmates: that we are a great team and we are a great family."
Following the scholarship award ceremony, Xaloc's director, Mr. Ricardo Benito, concluded the event with a speech addressed not only to the students but also to the families, thanking them for the trust placed in the school to accompany them in their children's education. To the students he invited them to do something great after their time at Xaloc: «Put your soul into everything you do. Try to be authentic. Irreplaceable. Unique. The GPT chat does many things, it can be very useful, correct, appropriate... but not great. It lacks the spark, the spirit. "Agora" has to do with "assembly", "meeting". It's your turn now to share, give what you have received.»
Now, with one foot in school and the other in the life outside the classrooms, we want to remind you that this is your home and the doors will always be open.
Hope to see you very soon!
