The First Corpus Christi Procession at Xaloc: a meeting between school and families

11/06/2024

In the celebration of Corpus Christi, we remember the Last Supper, when Christ instituted the Eucharist: and why is this feast so important? Because it brings us closer to the living Jesus in the Eucharistic Bread, which we adored in a procession throughout the school a week ago

At the Chaplaincy and Formation of Xaloc, we often ask ourselves how to get closer to Jesus and how to make people know Him. To mark the Corpus Christi festivity, the school decided to organize a procession for the first time in the school's history. The experience was so positive that we are already planning for next year's procession.

Students from 1st grade to high school, along with their families, accompanied the Blessed Sacrament and adored it at three altars around the school: one at the Hermitage, another at the red field where our students have played for so many hours, and in front of the sports center.

The entire school embraced this festivity: families filled the altars with flowers, some grandmothers sewed the pedestals where the Monstrance was placed, and all the students rehearsed songs to accompany the living Bread in the procession. Additionally, each class made traditional flower carpets along the procession route.

Furthermore, both the 1st-year high school students and the PAI3 students played a leading role: the former were deeply involved in the organization of the procession and carried the canopy throughout the route; and the latter had a time of prayer in the Oratory with their families, as they had received the Sacrament of Confirmation a few days earlier.

Thank you to all the families for your enthusiasm, which is also ours. See you next year at the Corpus Christi Procession for Xaloc's 60th anniversary!
