04/12/2024

The Family Hiking Group combines nature, tradition, and fellowship in an unforgettable journey through La Mussara Mountain Range, visiting iconic spots and keeping the Christmas spirit alive with a nativity scene at the Avencs de La Febró.

On Sunday, December 1, 2024, the Family Hiking Group (GEF) of Xaloc – Pineda – Avantis embarked on an exciting second excursion of the season. The chosen destination was La Mussara Mountain Range, aiming to visit the Avencs de La Febró and continue the tradition of placing a nativity scene in the lead-up to Christmas.

The adventure began at 10:45 a.m. from the La Mussara refuge parking lot. The first stop was the abandoned village of La Mussara, a place full of history that participants captured through photographs.

The route continued through the Plains of La Mussara until reaching the impressive Avencs de La Febró. Here, participants admired the geological formations and placed a nativity scene in a symbolic and emotional gesture connecting with Christmas traditions and reinforcing the group’s values.

After visiting the sinkholes, the group headed to the Plains of Panxó for a lunch break, enjoying a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere. The return journey took the hikers through Serra d’en Garcia and Coll d’Agustenc, with a final stop at the snow well of Mas del Pou, a relic of the past that sparked curiosity among children and adults alike.

With a 7.5 km route and 200 meters of elevation gain, the activity combined sports, learning, and camaraderie, solidifying the GEF’s role as a meeting space for nature-loving families.

The next excursion is scheduled for Sunday, February 9, 2025, to Serra de l'Obac, where they aim to replicate the success of this outing. Adventure and tradition continue to shape the GEF’s path.
