The teaching staff at Xaloc prepares these excursions with great enthusiasm, as they are a perfect opportunity to talk to them in a relaxed environment and to strengthen the relationship between classmates and teachers
We understand that education must be global, and that students need models and examples to follow, both inside and outside the classroom. Therefore, the cultural outing becomes the perfect setting to enjoy, learn, and talk with them, strengthen friendships, and get to know them better.
This term, students have learned history, geography, and biology in an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere. The youngest students in the First Cycle have been to the Planetarium at Garraf, where they learned all about stars, the sky and the universe. Second-grade students enjoyed Can Gel Farm, where they saw over 250 Frisian cows and fed calves with bottles.
Almost 100 third-grade students visited the Archaeological Park of the Mines of Gavà to learn about our Neolithic ancestors; they even participated in a workshop to create pendants using tools from that era. Fourth-grade students also studied history, but Roman history, as they visited the Museum of Badalona, which features over 3,400 square meters of Roman baths, streets and houses. Afterwards, they enjoyed leisure time at Can Zam Park, located in Santa Coloma de Gramanet and covering 11 hectares between the Fluvial Park of the Besòs River and the Natural Park of la Marina: it is one of the city's great green lungs.
Fifth-grade students traveled back in time to the 9th century and conquered Cardona Castle, a Romanesque and Gothic-style construction, where they found the Sala Daurada and the Sala dels Entresòls.
Finally, sixth-grade students, after preparing a cultural outing in class, visited the CRARC (Center for the Recovery of Amphibians and Reptiles of Catalonia) and met the python snake rescued a few months ago from a tree in the city of Barcelona.
In conclusion, these outings are designed to complement the educational needs of each stage and strengthen their social skills: a much-anticipated day enjoyed by both teachers and students alike.
