Through the FERT Association, both schools organize Family Guidance Courses to address parents' concerns at all stages of childhood and adolescence
"In any job, preparation and training are required for effectiveness. Who 'teaches' us to be good parents?" This is a question posed by the FERT Association on their website. And in Pineda and Xaloc, we have wanted to answer that question by implementing the Family Guidance Courses offered by the Association in our schools.
Although there are Family Guidance Courses starting from early childhood, organized by Avantis, in Xaloc we start with the First Letters, a course designed for parents with children aged between 6 and 8 years old, who are already "beginning to show traits of their personality and rational thinking", hence at the educational level, we must individualize our approach with them. Additionally, the environment begins to influence them, and parents must know how to educate under these circumstances. At this moment, we must reinforce the virtues that are crucial for the personal, academic, and spiritual growth of children.
The parents of Pineda and Xaloc held the meeting in small groups to discuss the case, "under the principles of freedom and respect for others' opinions as the axis to encourage debate." After this, they participated in the session with the moderator, who guided and fostered the debate, aiming to analyze the facts, identify the problems, and propose solutions.
Each family will find the necessary solutions for their particular circumstances and for their children. The purpose of the Family Guidance Courses is to develop the skills necessary for parenting: there are no closed answers.
