Last week, L'Hospitalet held the institutional recognition ceremony for the talent of eleven students from the city who stood out last year for their effort and achieved extraordinary results in the university entrance exams (PAU) and in the High School Excellence Award, granted by the Government of Catalonia. An award that very few students obtain and that fills with pride those who receive it
Pol Rengel, from the Àgora II class, finished his studies with an average of 9’96 and obtained a 13’39 out of 14 in his University entrance score, which allowed him to choose the degree he dreamed of: the Double Degree in Mathematics and Physics at CFIS, at UPC. And not only did he receive the Honorary Mention for scoring above 9 out of 10 in the PAU, but he was also awarded the High School Extraordinary Award: a test where students must demonstrate their linguistic abilities, argumentative capacity, creativity, command of specific subjects, and a foreign language, etc.
Created in 1999, these awards represent recognition of the preparation and effort demonstrated during the high school years and are a testament to the dedication and commitment shared between students, teachers, and families, according to the Department of Education.
But our students are not only academically brilliant; the education we promote at Xaloc is above all human and based on personal integrity. A proof of this is Pol’s words after his well-deserved recognition, summarizing his time at the school:
"When I started school at six years old, I could not have imagined how life would unfold. I had a happy Primary school experience, accompanied by teachers I have not forgotten.
After the Secondary school years, marked by the pandemic, starting High School was like opening a door to a new way of experiencing education. These last two years at Xaloc will remain engraved in my memory for all the effort, dedication, the company of good friends, and an extremely competent teaching staff, made up of people in whom you could also place great trust.
After the PAU exams and starting my university degree, I can only say how much I recall and miss the school. Therefore, for having shaped me both academically and personally, thank you very much, Xaloc."
Thank you, Pol, for being part of the family that, 60 years ago, began its journey in this city of opportunities, effort, and dedication; and year after year, it continues to establish itself as one of the best schools in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
