As every year, the school has organized the snack in the dining hall; however, this year the funds will be allocated to a different cause
The initiative of the Solidarity Chocolate Event was born at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu with the aim of raising funds for childhood cancer research, and the school has been collaborating with this beautiful cause for years. However, we spoke with the SJdD foundation and agreed to allocate the proceeds to Lucca Álvarez, a student in PAI4 at the school.
The mobilization in the classrooms and families, as well as the Xaloc staff, has been spectacular: the dining hall was full all morning and volunteers and students worked hard to collect and clean up after each shift. What a great teamwork!
Additionally, we had the collaboration of Saned, the company in charge of managing the school's dining hall, which provided us with chocolate altruistically; and Alpi, who embraced the cause and auctioned a beautiful painting titled "Bailando a Ritmo". The starting price was €50 and, finally, David Peñalver, a student in 1st year of Bachillerato, won the bid and donated the artwork to the school library. Anyone who wants can come and see it!
In numbers, the chocolate event can be summarized as 2000 cups, 8000 napkins, 1297 sponge cakes, 450 gluten-free cookies, 110 liters of milk, and 47 kilograms of chocolate powder. And the best part: we raised €4,818.90!!!
Thanks to everyone for your dedication, both to the students and families who kindly approached to collaborate, and to the entities that altruistically donated what was needed to make it possible, Saned and Alpi. Thanks to the volunteers and collaborators, to the teaching staff and non-teaching staff for making it possible.
Until next year!
