Facilities of Colegio Xaloc

Welcome to Colegio Xaloc, a publicly funded private school where each family and student are at the heart of our educational project. Located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, between Granvía Avenue and Can Trías Street, it boasts a privileged location for residents of the municipality, the metropolitan area of Barcelona, and neighboring towns.

With 60 years of educational experience, Xaloc offers unparalleled knowledge of what our students need for their academic, professional, personal, and social development.

The school covers an area of 87,000 square meters, of which 68,000 are green spaces, sports facilities, and recreational areas for all students to enjoy.

The school has three different entrances: the first, on Granvía, is an exclusive access for Primary; the second, next to it, provides access to Vocational Training; and the third, on Can Trías, is for Secondary and Baccalaureate. Next to the school is the Avantis Early Childhood Education Center and the Pineda School on Las Joncs Street.

At the Can Trías entrance, there is the reception, where people entering the school are attended to. In the first building of the school, you will find the lobby, the administrative office, the assembly hall, and several meeting rooms, as well as the principal's offices. The Xaloc team is available to meet with those who wish to learn about the school's educational project.

Oratory

Near Can Trías entrance is the Oratory, where mass is celebrated every school day and on Sundays, and everyone is invited to participate. Families, students, alumni, teachers, and non-teaching staff can make use of the Chaplaincy service.

The Oratory is a place of reflection and prayer. Major celebrations, such as the First Communion of 3rd-grade students, are held there. Family catechetical masses, training activities, talks for students, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the first Friday of each month are also organized.

Own Kitchen and Dining Hall

Xaloc has its own kitchen next to the dining hall. Approximately 600 students eat in the student dining hall every day. Next to it are the teacher's and guest dining halls, where breakfast and lunch can be enjoyed in a relaxed and trusting atmosphere.

The dining halls are open, bright, and well-ventilated spaces with air conditioning for the warm months and heating for the cold months. We strive to make the dining hall a place of coexistence and learning. To achieve this, teachers are present at all meal times for students of different stages.

Classrooms by Stages

The classrooms are organized in pavilions by stages. Primary or PEP (Primary School Program) has three pavilions: one for the Initial Cycle, another for the Middle Cycle, and another for the Upper Cycle, surrounded by recreational, sports, and green areas.

Secondary or MYP (Middle Years Program) and Baccalaureate have three pavilions: PAI2 and PAI3 are in two adjoining modules, and PAI4 and PAI5 are in the same module. The Baccalaureate students are located on the same floor of a pavilion.

The teachers have offices near the classrooms where they teach, so students have easy access to their teachers. The tutors of each class are always located in the module of their course's classrooms.

The classrooms of Xaloc Escola Tècnica are equipped with everything necessary for their academic and professional development. They are located in a different pavilion, as the needs of the students and their schedules are different from those of the other stages.

Library

The library module, near the Ermita de la Virgen de Xaloc, is very popular with students as there are activities all day long: from individual classes for new students to storytelling or literary cafés for families. The library is a fundamental social and educational hub for the school's comprehensive project.

In the 2023/24 school year, a new lending system has been implemented, and the number of readers of the hundreds of volumes in the school's library has increased.

Sports Areas

The sports areas are one of the school's main attractions. Since 2023, the school has had a new 11-a-side soccer field, a 7-a-side soccer field, and ten paddle tennis courts.

Additionally, the sports center is a versatile space that can be used as a 7-a-side soccer field, a basketball court, or a gym. It also hosts theater performances, academic events, and other celebrations, as it has a stage.

Interdisciplinary Classrooms: Science, Music, Art, IT, etc.

Colegio Xaloc has several science laboratories and computer rooms for different stages, as well as robotics and technology classrooms. The Vocational Training pavilion houses specific classrooms for the various training modules.

Students carry out artistic activities in the art classroom, a space with large worktables, natural light, and all the necessary materials to foster personal expression and creativity.

The music classroom and podcast studio add to the school's artistic initiatives, as we promote multidisciplinary learning. New times encourage us to develop new projects, such as creating podcasts or recording songs and music videos.

Music is not only fundamental as a curricular subject but also offered as an extracurricular activity, where students who wish can learn to play an instrument.

Meeting Rooms and Assembly Hall

One of the fundamental pillars of our educational project is personal tutoring and regular meetings with families. The meeting rooms are the ideal place to plan, organize, and outline all the students' personal and professional projects.

The meeting rooms offer an ideal place for personalized interviews between the tutor and families.

The assembly hall hosts major events throughout the school year: from the literary contest, talks by important personalities visiting the school, academic events, family meetings, etc. It is a place designed for gathering and fostering good communication, a hallmark of the school.

Recreation Area

Around each of the classroom pavilions, there are green areas, playgrounds, and sports fields, distributed among all students, so that each stage has its own playground. We consider it essential for students to have spaces where they can play, run, do sports, and socialize outdoors.

The educational project of Xaloc is comprehensive and encompasses all dimensions of the person: body, mind, and spirit. The facilities at Xaloc are excellent for holistic growth, always accompanied by the family and the teaching and non-teaching staff of Xaloc.
