Xaloc is an all-boys school based in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), supported by its families to provide a comprehensive educational experience for its pupils in line with current educational policy and the unique character of the school.
The school has arranged all educational stages:Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate and Vocational Studies. Early Years or pre–school education is provided by the Avantis centre located next to the school, in the VI Bellvitge-Gornal district. From its very beginning Xaloc has been open and welcoming to students from all walks of life in search of a quality and fulfilling educational experience.
History
The school opened for its first classes on October 5, 1964 with approximately 50 students, a handful of teachers and a real pioneering spirit. It was a period of significant economic and social upheaval and the school was born out of a desire to help alleviate the educational problems that this presented. From these humble beginnings the school has gone from strength to strength and is now well established in the area as a reference for quality education and a strong commitment to Vocational Studies.
Thanks to the combined efforts of many people and to the financing model of the school. thousands of families from surrounding areas and beyond have placed their trust and confidence in the school and its educational approach.
Xaloc’s commitment and desire to contribute to the social and cultural development of its neighborhood remains as strong as today as ever.
Own character
The school ethos which is strongly supported by parents, teaching and non-teaching staff and students is based upon Christian values following the teachings of the Roman Catholic church while at the same time respecting other traditions.
The responsibility for the continuing religious education of pupils is under the aegis of the Prelature of Opus Dei.
